Reading books to children is great for their development. Children that are read to, develop a love of reading books themselves. Oprah Winfrey was taught to read by the age of 4 by her grandmother reading constantly to her. Children read at different times and it is important to encourage children at there own levels.
The Department of Education recommends reading and talking to children from the time that they are babies. A baby’s brain develops very fast and they absorb information like sponges.
These Sesame Street and Elmo books are familiar to children and can capture their attention. Each book is entertaining and helps to teach different concepts. A few things that we know Sesame Street teaches is the ABC’s (Alphabet), numbers and counting.
