Sesame Street: Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece is a game that will like its three predecessors will have versions for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, and PC.      This version lets children learn about different styles of music and different types of instruments.    Even though there has been a cut back in the arts in public schools parents still want their children exposed to and knowledge about the arts.   This is evident in Sesame Street games like this, and also the many different preschool shows like Sesame Street that embrace music appreciation.     Some options for parents are show like the Fresh Beat Band that airs on Nickelodeon.  On that show a group of musicians live together and make music together.  Another show is The Little Einsteins, which is an animated program on Disney Junior.

Parents can definitely play a role in exposing their children to the arts.  They also can play along with their children in this new game and view their child’s progress throughout the game as they make music with Elmo, Abby Cadabby, The Count, and the Honkers   (If we are going to make Sesame Street music we need  the legendary Honkers).

With some the nominations it is pretty easy to decipher there meaning; but others have such complex titles that you have to be in the entertainment industry to really get a grasp on what it all really means.     Either way, it is a huge congratulation to the folks at Sesame Street for another season of great work.    Just like last year, the show received 16 Daytime Emmy nomination, but they ended taking home 8 awards.   Let’s see if they are just as fortunate this year when the awards are given out in June 23^rd.

This app is a narrated story that included Elmo, Big Bird, Zoe, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, and other Sesame Street friends celebrating the 100^th day of school.   Even if you kid is not in school yet or if they are and the 100^th day of school is has already passed, this is a great app to have.  Following along while the narrator reads the book aloud is great way to promote reading.

Simple Ways to Celebrate 100^th Day of School

All across the country the 100^th day of school is promoted in classroom.    Children, parents, and teachers can find great ways to celebrate.   Some activities that you can do at home with your child may include counting to 100; you can count by 1s, 2s,5s, and 10s to make it interesting.     If you child is learning to write, you can also practice writing the number 100 on a sheet of paper.

This is definitely a beautiful cause that anyone would be proud to be part of.   You can view some of the art exhibited in the YouTube video posted below.   Some of the art you wouldn’t think of putting in your preschooler’s room because they are a bit edgier than what you are used to watching on Sesame Street.  Nevertheless, there were some great pieces that were some cool and fun.  You can see some humorous and thoughtful renditions of some the characters like Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Grover, The Count, and Snuffy.

Just as in the United States, Sesame Street is popular in Australia and around the world.  Sesame Street has been airing down under since 1971.   The program continues to air in Australia and over 150 other countries.    Live performances of Sesame Street are also done in the United States and other international countries.    The USO has also teamed up to present Sesame Street live performances to United States military children at bases in the United States and abroad.  Sesame Street far reach has touched the lives of several generations of children in person and through television

This year’s Easter Egg Roll will be on Monday, April 9^th.     Earlier this year the Whitehouse had a lottery system that distributed 30,000 tickets to interested people across the United States.   Those people will be broken down into groups of 6,000.   Each group will have 2 hours to enjoy the festivities on the Whitehouse south lawn.

Katie, Elmo’s friend from a military family, is a special addition to the Sesame Street gang for a traveling show called “Sesame Street and USO Experience for Military Families.” Elmo and friends help Katie open up about her fears and excitement about moving to a new location. Sesame Street and USO Experience for Military Families is beginning their 6th tour to military families. The tour offers free Sesame Street entertainment to military families. On the tour children are entertained by Elmo, Grover, Cookie Monster, Rosita, and Katie.
